What is it with Harley worship?

I get wanting to ride something that sounds loud and powerful. I get wanting to ride something that is embled in America. I even get wanting to have the option to add all sorts of aftermarket trinkets to "individualize" the bike. What I don't get is the need to dress up in goofy village people costumes complete with frilly leather, looking like you came straight out of the castro, adorning your car with HD stickers, always be wearing one of your 80 HD t-shirts, drinking out of an HD coffee mug, and praying to the church of HD and all they espouse. I mean for god's sake, its just a bike. Extra points if you say something like - "if you've never ridden one you wouldn't understand", or "you're just jealous because you can't afford one", or "whatsa matter, your old lady leave you for a biker?" or any variation of the above.
