Poem ysis help - the man in a bowler hat, by A.S.J Tessimond?

The man is feeling that making a living has become his whole life -- stripped anything resembling a personality. He is the walking, talking summation of every news story, bar chart, graph, statistic or generalization about humanity. He is the man who is sought by advertisers (pliable), praised by politicians (backbone), quoted anonymously by reporters (rails and megaphone), subject of economists essays (graph diagram) . . . he is all these things to others, the only thing he is NOT is himself.
